Mauro Calise is Professor of Political Science, University of Naples Federico II, and the President of the Società Italiana di Scienza Politica (2008-10). He is the Editor and Director of the International Political Science Association Web Portal for Electronic Sources.
He has taught and lectured throughout Italy, Europe, and the United States.
His international activities include the International Political Science Association (Vice-President, 2000-2003); Visiting Professor, Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris; Visiting Professor and Research Fellow, Cornell University; Research Fellow, Harvard Center for European Studies.

Dr. Jorge Civera is an assistant professor of computer science at the UPV. His research interests include pattern recognition and its application to statistical machine translation, speech recognition, and handwriting recognition. He is co-author of 10 articles in international journals and more than 20 articles in international conferences. He has been involved in 4 European projects and more than 10 Spanish projects. He led a Spanish research project on interactive machine translation and speech transcription of educational content.
He is currently the principal investigator at UPV of the EU project EMMA, after having been the project manager of the European project transLectures.

Larry Cooperman is the Associate Dean for Open Education at UC Irvine. He has served as an advocate for open education with government representatives in Colombia, with the university sector in Haiti and Brazil, and through his service on the board of the African Virtual University. He speaks at open and distance learning conferences internationally, from eLearning Africa to the conference of the Korea OpenCourseWare Foundation. From 1999-2001, Cooperman was Chair of UC Berkeley Extension’s E-Commerce Program committee and served on the faculty of a Latin American business school for three years. Rosanna de Rosa is assistant professor at the University of Naples Federico II where she teaches Political Communication. Her publications are mainly aimed at analyzing the impact of new technologies on politics, with a focus on e-government, e-democracy and the emerging of a public sphere in Internet.
She has been a Research Associate in a joint international project on political concepts and theory, directed by Mauro Calise and Theodore J. Lowi.
She is Assistant Editor of Ipsaportal.net, an official publication of the International Political Science Association. More recently she has been appointed Executive Director of an innovative e-learning project at the University of Naples.

Maka is a TEL research fellow (University of Naples Federico II) and a PhD candidate (Tallinn University). She is a TEL researcher and enthusiast; her research interests include learning interactions, learning analytics, communities of inquiry, units of analysis, CSCL, activity theory, theory of educational research and more. She has taught university courses on Educational Technology, has managed TEL deployment and implementation processes, has held numerous teacher training sessions. She has participated in many TEL events, conferences, workshops and published her research in the field. Having a background in humanities and languages, she currently works at the intersection of social sciences and computer science with a PhD thesis focusing on unit of analysis of learning interactions and it’s use in learning analytics. Maka is a research fellow in the University of Naples Federico II and works for the project EMMA.

Dr Rebecca Ferguson is a lecturer in the Institute of Educational Technology (IET) at The Open University in the UK and a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her primary research interests are educational futures, and how people learn together online and she supervises doctoral students in both these areas.
Rebecca worked for several years as a researcher and educator on the Schome project, which focuses on educational futures, and was also the research lead on the SocialLearn online learning platform, and learning analytics lead on the Open Science Lab (Outstanding ICT Initiative of the Year: THE Awards 2014). She is currently a pedagogic adviser to the FutureLearn MOOC platform, evaluation lead on The Open University’s FutureLearn MOOCs and a member of the FutureLearn Academic Network. She is an active member of the Society for Learning Analytics Research, and has co-chaired many learning analytics events, included several associated with the Learning Analytics Community Exchange (LACE), European Project funded under Framework 7.

Chiara M Ferrari, is Group Director of the International, Social and Trend studies of Ipsos Public Affairs, the social research specialist division of Ipsos Italia. Dr. Olga Firssova is Assistant professor at WELTEN Institute, Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology, Open University Netherlands. Ruth has worked in ESL for many years, involved in teacher training and course design as well as exam preparation courses. Dr. Mart Laanpere is a senior researcher at the Institute of Informatics, Tallinn University, Estonia. He is also the head of the Centre for Educational Technology, which is an international research group within the same institute. His research interests are related with designing innovative online learning environments, instructional design, learning analytics, assessment of digital competences and supporting professional development of teachers with e-portfolio. Apart from participating in eight European research projects, Mart has been teaching the courses on instructional design, active learning and didactics of informatics. He has also been the convenor of EERA network on Open Learning and an e-learning expert in various countries such as Georgia, Moldova, Palestine, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Senegal, Croatia and Serbia.

Prof. Katherine Maillet has more than twenty years of professional experience in teaching and research: authoring distance learning courses, “virtual student mobility”, curriculum design, administration, project management, consulting, publishing research results. She was head of the foreign language department at INT for 10 years during which she was responsible for designing, implementing, and directing the foreign language curriculum, learning facilities, and its associated educational and administrative operations.
Since 1991 she has been involved in a number of national and international projects which aim to integrate advanced communications technologies into language teaching and learning methodologies. These include ERNEST and MIREHD, two GET projects for which she lead the language research teams; three European projects, DELTA’s Multimedia Teleschool, ACTS LEVERAGE, IST UNIVERSAL; and the transatlantic project, CULTURA financed by the US National Endowment for the Humanities and MIT. From 2009 to 2011 she was a workpackage leader in ICOPER eContent Plus Project.

A scientific journalist with a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and Literature and a Master’s in Science Communication. An experienced Press Officer for various Science conferences as well as for literary and cultural events. An internship at TG Neapolis at RAI 3 sparked Ilaria’s interest in the world of Internet Communication and New Technologies and for the last seven years she has worked for Federica, the web-learning portal at the Federico II University in Naples. Using and building on her previous experience, her role focuses on aspects of communication and events management, and also on monitoring visitor trends and analysing, producing and editing learning content and resources. She has recently worked on EMMA where she is responsible for communication at national level and involved in the development of learning analytics.

Eleonora Pantò is Learning, Inclusion and Social Innovation Program Developer at CSP. Eleonora worked in CSP since 2000 in various initiatives linked to innovative use of technology in education and digital communities. She managed the digital identity of CSP, designing and managing the social media strategy, with a special focus on video productions.
She is President of Media & Learning Association that promotes use of media in education and the Director of the Dschola Association that provides training and technological support to all the regional school system in Piedmont, Italy.
She worked in several EU co-financed project related to ICT and education: the most recent are EMMA, about Moocs, JamToday about games in education, BooGames for videogames industry and Medea2020. Finally, she is actively involved in promoting Open Education Resources and she is part of the scientific committee of ONG2.0, a project for advanced use of web and ICT in international cooperation and MuPin, an association for the creation of a regional museum of history of informatics in Italy.

An Irish national with a background in remedial linguistics, Sally first worked in radio and television in Ireland as a presenter and producer for the national broadcaster, RTE. From 1990 onwards, she worked in technology enhanced learning networks in Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium and was programme manager for Online Educa Berlin (1996-2008) and for eLearning Africa (2006-2009). She is a Director of ATiT which she co-founded in 1999 where she leads on dissemination work for several EU projects including SAILS, EMMA and Inspiring Science Education and has considerable experience in all levels of European project management from concept through to validation. Sally leads in the organization of the annual Media & Learning Conference and is actively engaged in the related MEDEA Awards and Media and Learning Association. Mathy Vanbuel

With a background in audio-visual production, Mathy worked for the audio-visual service of the Catholic University of Leuven for more than 15 years as director and production manager. Since 1998, Mathy is co-director of ATiT. He is regularly called upon to offer consultancy services in the integration of specific ICT tools and multimedia services in the education process and clients have included the European Commission, European Schools network, the European Space Agency, The World Bank, etc. Mathy was visiting lecturer MultiMedia Management at the Interfaculty in Maastricht (NL). He is author of several publications on the use of media in education and of scenarios of use of media in education. Mathy is chairperson of the Judging Committee of the MEDEA Awards and Secretary of the MEDEA Association for Media and Learning.
