Marco De Masi works as a media specialist at The Boston Consulting Group. He is a professional journalist. Prior joining BCG, he was a reporter with Capital, focusing on economic issues. He holds a PhD in Italian Studies from the University of Florence and a degree in Modern languages from the University of Naples Federico II, a Master in Journalism and an Executive Mba. He loves running, practicing ki-aikido, traveling. He’s got a very young daughter from his wife, Gabriella.

Laura Distefano is a twenty year experienced teacher of Spanish and Spanish literature in a Secondary School.
She has got a specialization in “Teaching of Modern Languages” DILM from the University of Bologna; a Master in “Intercultural education and European dimension in education” in the University of Lecce. Several scholarships have brought her for Hispanic studies to the University of Valladolid, Salamanca, Granada and Santander.
Fond of project planning she has been didactic planner and coordinator of Spanish cultural and linguistic courses held in Centro de Lenguas Modernas in the University of Granada and has created the national project of Bimboil for Città dell’Olio Association in Siena.
She has a Master in European Project Planning and Management in Pixel Florence and has cooperated in Nellip Project (Promotion of networking in the development of language skills in connection with the European Language Label).
At the moment she is a doctoral student in Literature and ICT at the University of Extremadura and her main interest is studying ICT to create new ways to make literature attractive to learners and to help them develop skills that are applicable outside the subject as well.
Laura is strongly aware of being a “paper native generation” teacher and wants to integrate innovation with tradition. She loves cooking for friends and has a great passion for local and international cuisine. She would like to think of a MOOC like a scented dish of European literature.

Anna Grabowska was awarded her PhD from Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), and has a Masters in Science degree in Applied Informatics from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. Retired from GUT since 2008. She is an e-learning specialist for the PRO-MED sp. z o.o., a Head of the Autodesk Training Centre at Gdansk University of Technology in Poland, an advisor for U3A online in Australia, a founder member of the Association of Academic E-learning.

Roland Klemke is researcher at the Welten Institute of the Open University of the Netherlands. He leads national and international research projects in the TEL field. Research topics include serious gaming, game-based learning, mobile learning, augmented reality, open architectures, web-based collaboration, and collaborative content production. He is experienced in the fields of software development, e-learning, knowledge management, mobile solutions and web-based systems. Roland is professor for game design at Mediadesign Hochschule (Mediadesign university of applied science) in Düsseldorf, Germany, where he teaches subjects like game engine architectures, game development methodologies, game physics, and artificial intelligence for games. Additionally, he is CEO of Humance AG, a Cologne based software development company specialized in mobile and web-based solutions, coordinating research and development activities. Until 2002 he contributed as scientist at Fraunhofer Gesellschaft to national and international research projects. He received his degree in Computer Science in 1997 from University of Kaiserslautern and a doctoral degree from RWTH Aachen in 2002. Roland is member of Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI), fellow of the Interuniversity Center for Educational Sciences (ICO) and fellow of the Dutch research school information and knowledge systems (SIKS). He has more than 30 peer-reviewed journal publications and conference papers in the TEL field.

Donatella Persico is senior researcher at the Institute for Educational Technology of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Her major research interests include learning design, e-learning, self-regulated learning and teacher training. She has several online and blended courses for teachers in educational technology. She is author of educational material and scientific publications of various kinds, including books, educational software, multimedia material and research papers concerning various aspects of educational technology. She is co-editor of the Italian Journal TD Tecnologie Didattiche, collaborates with international and national journals on Educational Technology and has been in charge of several national and international projects.
Within the EMMA summer school, I would be interested in designing a MOOC on digital scholarship for young researchers, doctoral students and/or post-doc.

Sara Valla is Learning Technology Officer at the University of Parma, at the Research Centre UniPR Co-Lab, where she is involved in expert guidance, advice and support to University professors and students on the design, development and implementation of technology enhanced learning activities and the use of interactive educational technologies. Furthermore, she coordinates come on-line and blended educational projects and manages some Learning Management Systems and IT services for research on education at the University of Parma.
She is a member of the University Open Access group and is Project Manager of ENGpower, a project aimed at enhancing English (as a second language) learning at the University of Parma through the usage of Information and Communication Technologies.
She graduated in Business and Administration at the University of Parma; she further obtained a Master of Arts in E-learning at Università della Tuscia in Italy and a joint International Master of Arts in Digital Library Learning offered by three Universities: Hioa (Oslo, Norway), Tallinn University (Estonia) and University of Parma.
She has been involved in national and international projects and researches on language learning and digital libraries and was learning guidance and assistant in the Italian semester of the International Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Digital Library Learning (DILL).
Technology Enhanced Learning, educational tutoring and coaching, e-collaboration and digital libraries for learning are part of her background but also topics of interest for further studies and research.
