Writing in a recent blogpost Alastair Creelman summarises the recently announced conclusions coming from a government commission in Norway set up to examine the potential of MOOCs from a national perspective. These conclusions are divided into two areas, recommendations at government level and recommendations at institutional level. Government level recommendations include there to be a major national investment of up to €16-47 million annually in the coordinated development of online education in Norway. This includes the formation of at least one national MOOC platform, research-based competence and knowledge development, cooperation between higher education and industry in using MOOCs for work-related training and research into learning analytics.
