Working Committee to explore collaboration amongst European MOOC related projects

Several European MOOC initiatives and projects have been set up in the last year, most of them funded by the European Commission under different programmes. As there are a lot of common interests amongst these projects, several members of the different project teams felt that it might be useful to see if there were opportunities for collaboration amongst the different actors involved. This led to an initiative to launch a special “Working Committee to explore opportunities for collaboration amongst European MOOC related projects”. Members include partners from several projects: the ECO project (stands for E-learning Communication Open-Data and aims to create a combined MOOC platform with a focus on OER), OpenUpEd (a pan-European initiative around MOOCs), the MOOCKnowledge project (aims to develop a knowledge base with a European view on MOOCs), the HOME project (aims to develop and strengthen an open network for European cooperation on open education, in general, and MOOCs, in particular), Sequent (main focus is Quality Assurance and labels for e-learning and MOOCs) and EMMA (Providing Multilingual Access to European MOOCs via a new MOOC aggregator). During the first meeting project representatives introduced their projects to one another and expressed their ideas for collaboration which includes finding ways to work together in the area of dissemination, by sharing of results and research findings, examining different exploitation models and so on. The committee is still open to accept other interested parties. In case your are involved in a project around MOOCs and are interested in collaborating and exchanging ideas, the committee can be contacted via info@europeanmooc.eu.
