EMMA was well represented at the EDEN (European Distance and e-Learning Network) conference held in Zagreb on 10-13 June which brought together just over 300 participants mostly from Europe. Partners involved included Sally Reynolds from ATiT who presented EMMA in one of the popular Synergy Tracks, Grainne Conole from University of Leicester, UK, Deborah Arnold from Université de Bourgogne, France, and António Teixeira from Universidade Aberta, in Portugal. EDEN is one of Europe’s largest and most long-established networks of institutions and professionals working in e-learning and is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2015. Traditionally, the people who take part in this annual conference come from academic institutions led by many of Europe’s open universities however this year with its emphasis on e-learning at work and in the workplace there was a marked broadening of focus to address the value and impact of e-learning in the working environment. MOOCs were a popular topic this year and showed up in several sessions and several universities expressed their interest in being part of EMMA when the platform is open to others wishing to make their MOOCs available.
