The 10th Joint European Summer School on Technology Enhanced Learning was held in Malta from April 27 – May 2 and welcomed PhD students from around the globe to participate in practical and methodological workshops relating to their research. EMMA was presented by Rosanna De Rosa, the project coordinator from the University of Naples Federico II. She focused on the research into MOOCs that she carried out when in charge of Federica Web Learning – Campus Virtuale project (FESR 2007-2013) which informed the development of the European, multilingual, cross-border approach to web learning that EMMA incorporates. Ruth Kerr, part of the EMMA management team at Federico II, finished with an analysis of the instructional design behind the EMMA PLE using a series of parameters and variables as her starting point.
